Watching Our Dancers Grow: A Privilege Beyond Measure
There’s a unique and heartfelt joy in being a dance teacher—a joy that stretches beyond teaching steps or perfecting technique. Every day, I (Miss Ava) feel so deeply privileged to witness something remarkable: the transformation of young dancers into incredible, resilient, and compassionate individuals. These dancers are not just learning to leap and turn; they’re learning to navigate life with strength, grace, and integrity.
It’s hard to put into words how proud I am to see the children who once toddled into our babyballet classes now tackling monumental challenges, not only on stage but also in school, friendships, and life. Some of our dancers have literally grown up within these walls, and seeing who they are becoming—brilliant, hardworking, kind young adults—is awe-inspiring. They show up at DanSci with such a genuine commitment, throwing themselves into every class, every rehearsal, every performance, all while balancing school, exams, and life’s ups and downs. And they don’t just work hard; they lift each other up, support one another, and model what it truly means to be part of a team.
Our assistants who started here as little ones are now graduating, some pursuing their own journeys as dance teachers, mentors, and role models for the next generation. Watching them grow and share their knowledge and kindness fills me with such immense pride. It’s a beautiful cycle—seeing them give back to the very community that helped them grow is one of the most rewarding parts of my job.
As I look around, I see the “little people” of the past becoming adults who bring so much goodness to the world. Each dancer embodies the qualities we strive to nurture here: creativity, resilience, curiosity, and compassion. They remind us daily that dance training goes far beyond the technical; it’s about building character and creating community.
DanSci has become a place where young people from all walks of life, backgrounds, and schools come together, free from screens and distractions, to create, solve problems, and support each other. This community, built on shared values and love for dance, is a testament to the incredible young people who fill it. They have shown us all that no matter where you come from, there is a place to belong, to grow, and to be inspired.
Our adult dancers and supportive parents are wonderful, but the real stars here are our children and young people. They continually teach us about kindness, inclusivity, and courage, reminding us to strive to be the best versions of ourselves. Thank you for allowing us the privilege to share in your lives. We are so proud of each and every one of you. You are truly extraordinary, and I am forever grateful to witness your journey.
Miss Ava xx
