Our dancers had an awesome time performing with the Strictly Come Dancing Stars!
Youngsters from DanSci Dance Studio, Exeter aged 7-14 were super excited to have been invited to perform in the tour during half term at Exmouth Pavilions. They have spent the past couple of months training weekly in addition to their usual dance classes to perfect their 80’s routine which includes an exciting hip-hop ‘dance off’ with heart-throb Jake Quickenden!
Dance To The Music first and only dance show in the UK to portray the evolution of dance through musical eras and genres from the roaring 20s with the Charleston and Tap dances, moving through every decade of dance and finishing with modern day Ballroom and Latin. All sequences are linked by a clever light-hearted script with plenty of humour and anecdotes revealing the fun facts of showbiz life.
Miss Ava says “It’s absolutely awesome to have such fantastic professional dancers coming to Devon but to also become part of the community and invite youngsters from local schools to join their team is such a privilege. Our dancers are ecstatic and have been working really hard to be the best they can be. They had a great time meeting the professional dancers and sharing the stage. This was such a great opportunity for them.”
The performance excitement doesn't end there! The team have been invited to perform both their upbeat 80s Hip Hop number and a more serious piece exploring the effects if bullying at school at the South West's Spring forward arts event next week. This is such a fantastic opportunity for the young dancers to show their diversity as well as get to perform in a professional environment.
We wish the team the best of luck. Super proud of them and how they are growing as mature dancers through the season.
