Ballet is the perfect discipline to develop posture, alignment, strength, flexibility, coordination and grace.
Experience the benefits of ballet in an encouraging and non-competitive environment for adults and mature studnents over 15 years old. If you are new to Ballet then our Ballet 101 workshop is the perfect way to start your journey. This class is designed for the absolute beginner or those seeking to refresh their skills. Learn the fundamental positions, basic techniques, and terminology of classical ballet.
Ballet terminology will be explained and demystified. The classes will cover barre work, centre practice, allegro (jumps), pirouettes (turns) and some choreographed phrases.
No dance experience is necessary and exercises can be modified for all fitness levels. Participants may wear a leotard and tights or comfortable fitness apparel along with ballet shoes or socks.
BALLET 101 WORKSHOP CONTENTS
Exact course content may differ depending on the duration of the course, individual needs and those of the group. However, topics covered will generally include:
- Establish basic ballet vocabulary and the purpose of each exercise
- Develop strength, flexibility and better posture
- Improve coordination
- Broaden awareness of the body in space
- Put techniques into practice by mastering simple choreographic phrases
You will be given friendly feedback and support from your Miss Dominique throughout the course.
